Our shorthand ↗

Rooms

Rooms blend low tatami seating with fragrant hinoki cypress tubs, supplied with local Fushimi sake for evening soaking rituals.

Wellness

The private bath suite features a three-meter tub overlooking Yasaka Pagoda, infused with seasonal botanicals from winter yuzu to fragrant pine.

Backstory

Developed in 2017 by Hotel New Awaji Group, the retreat translates coastal island hospitality to the historic temple lanes of Higashiyama.

Eat & drink

At Kiyomizu Saryo, seasonal kaiseki is served on local pottery alongside regional wine and complimentary evening drinks in the guest lounge.

The neighborhood

Tucked off Gojozaka and Kiyomizumichi, the lane trades crowded temple approaches for traditional machiya facades and tranquil evening strolls.
